How can you eliminate your back pain, neck pain and sciatica? What techniques are good and which aren't? This section is here to teach you the many ways you can help your self to a pain free life.
Back pain creates many fears and frustrations. You are worried that your back pain will never go, or that you may end up needing surgery at some stage. You are frustrated that the pain is still there and that you can no longer perform the activities you once could.
Although you may want and desire to have all the flexibility and strength in your back, it still seems a distant wish. The dream of playing with your children or just performing your best at work eludes you.
But should you actually worry about your back pain? Do you have anything to worry about? Surely not everyone ends up on the surgeons table or worse living a life of constant pain.
To answer your fears and worries you need to know the answer to five questions...
Q 1 - How far does your back pain travel?
Pain that moves away from your spine is thought of as being more serious. If pain stays in your spine then surely it is less severe. Or is it?
Q 2 - How long have you had your back pain?
Is it chronic or acute? Does this mean you will end up living with your back pain if you have had it for years?
Q 3 - What type of pain do you have?
Different pain characteristics help you understand the actual cause of your pain and what you need to do to remove it. Do you know which type you have?
Q 4 - Does your back pain get worse or better with activity?
Should you rest or be active? Does it make a difference to how fast you will heal? What activity is best to do?
Q 5 - How did you back pain start?
Falls, injuries, a slow or sudden build up of back pain. These can determine whether you should seek help or whether you can help your self at home. This is vital information.
Five simple questions that most of you will not know the answers to. If you know the answers to these questions then you will know what you can do to eliminate your back pain and most of all stop it returning.
Back pain creates a lot of fears and frustrations. The biggest fear is that your back pain will stay with you for the rest of your life. Although the biggest fear, it is seldom the case. Q: I'm worried my upper back pain is my lung?
A: The answer to this is very simple – it is very unusual for upper back pain to be from an organ. However if you are worried then seek advice.
Upper back pain is usually a result of a few joints (spinal and rib joints) and the muscles around them being tight. In rare occasions organs are involved. With any back pain that doesn’t settle quickly, especially if you are using techniques to speed your recovery, you need to seek advice.
It is better to be cautious and know you are okay rather than just hoping.
