Sciatic Relief In 3 Simple Steps

For most sciatic relief is a daunting or fearful process. The pain has been nagging you for weeks, months or even longer. You have tried many different approaches to help, but to no avail.

Why is it so hard to remove and why do so many techniques fail?

The answer lies in understanding the mechanisms that cause your pain and how to systematically eliminate them. Sciatica is a complex issue but it requires a straightforward simple approach to cure it.

But first ...

What is Sciatica?

Sciatica is pain that is commonly felt both in the lower back that then can refer to the buttock and down the leg, sometimes as far as your toes. Depending on the severity of irritation to the nerve pain can be local or down to your toes.

The sciatic nerve is unusual in that it is the thickest and largest nerve in the body. It is formed by from the "nerve roots" exiting the last 5 vertebra in your spine. These "nerve roots" form a trunk of nerve that then travels out into the buttock and down your leg.

The reason sciatica occurs is that the nerves becomes irritated at any point along its' path, but most commonly at the source (the lower spine) or as the nerve runs through the buttock (where the sciatic nerve runs either through or close to the Piriformis muscle).

The Problem with Sciatica

One of the common mistakes made in diagnosing sciatica is the most people, including practitioners believe that there is only one cause.

In fact there can be many, but if you only target one aspect then you will get temporary relief at most. Long lasting sciatic relief requires you to eliminate both the symptoms and ALL the causes.

This is where that fears comes in, as people fear this is a long term arduous task. In fact it isn't...

The 3 Steps for Sciatic Relief

There are only 3 steps needed to remove sciatica, in fact these same 3 steps should be used in all back or neck pain cases. They are not new and in fact have been used by experienced practitioners for centuries.

But what is less common is that a combined approach is needed. Each of the structural professions believes that the cause of sciatica is different. Chiropractors look to the lower spine and the joints there.

Physiotherapy and muscle workers look to the Piriformis or the lower back muscles as the cause. Medicine on the other hand is more suited to just pain relief through medications (herbs, homeopathics and supplements can also be used).

However, understanding the 3 steps to cure your sciatica is the key...

The first step which is the essential step is first identifying exactly what is causing your pain. For most it will be a combination of both joint and muscle imbalances. These imbalances cause the irritation to the nerve and create your pain.

The second step is therefore needed to ease pain. Yes symptom relief is an important step but only part of the process. If your pain levels are reduced or eliminated, then your body will heal faster and better.

The final step is correcting the imbalances you identified in step 1. Failing to remove ALL the causes will limit you to temporary relief.

Again ...

The most important step is step 1, as you use this to identify what causes your pain and you can sue the same step to monitor your progress long term.

The Mistake You Must Avoid

Pain removal is only part of the process and a common place where people stop. You must think of pain as a fire alarm only. It lets you know the imbalances are severe enough to warrant attention, once gone it only indicates the tension has eased.

Being able to detect the imbalances allows you to make sure both the symptoms and cause have been eliminated. This is why it is an essential step in all back pain relief.

No matter what you use for sciatic relief, understanding these steps is vital. Learning how to detect your imbalances is an essential tool to use to make sure you get long lasting relief. Which is on our next web page...
